Privacy statement

Softniverse is responsible for the processing of your personal data on EduVerse. Our details are listed at the top of this page. For any privacy question, email info@softniverse.com.

We process personal data only for these purposes:

• Your account: email address, name (if you gave it), language, a scrambled version of your password (never the password itself) and when you last signed in. We need this to give you access to what you bought (performance of the contract).
• Orders and payments: name, email address, country, and if you entered them, company name and VAT number; the product, price, VAT, discount, order number, the moment you agreed to immediate access and to the terms, and the payment status and references from Stripe. We need this to deliver your order and must keep it for the tax authorities (performance of the contract and legal obligation).
• Learning progress: which chapters, sections and slides you completed, your progress in demos, and your quiz answers and scores. We use this only to show your progress and let you continue on any device (performance of the contract).
• Emails: your email address and the content of the emails we send you, such as the order confirmation, sign-in details and password resets. A temporary password is stored encrypted until the email is sent and then deleted (performance of the contract).
• Contact form: your name, email address and message. We use them only to answer you (legitimate interest).
• Security: the type of browser of your active sessions, and hashed IP addresses and email addresses to stop password guessing and abuse. Server logs never contain passwords or payment details (legitimate interest: keeping EduVerse and your account safe).

We do not store card details: those go directly to Stripe.

We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not make automated decisions about you.

You can read the free preview without an account. We then store nothing about you on our servers, apart from the hashed security data described above.

Your browser does keep some settings and your progress in the free preview on your own device (see section 4). That data never reaches us.

EduVerse only uses functional cookies and browser storage that the site needs to work, so we do not ask for permission. We do not use tracking, analytics or advertising cookies.

• __Host-eduverse_sid (cookie): keeps you signed in. It is removed when you sign out and expires after 30 days at the latest.
• eduverse-locale and eduverse-theme (cookies): remember your language and light or dark mode.
• Browser storage (localStorage): remembers your font size, which hints you have seen, and your progress in the free preview. It stays on your device.

We work with a few providers. They process data only on our instructions and under agreements that protect it:

• Stripe (payments): handles your payment and your card or iDEAL details. For fraud prevention and its own legal obligations, Stripe is responsible itself as well.
• Resend (email): sends our emails.
• Railway (hosting): runs our website and database.

We do not share your data with anyone else, unless the law requires us to.

Some of these providers are based in the United States. Where data leaves the European Economic Area, we only allow it with the safeguards the GDPR requires, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

• Account and learning progress: as long as your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account, we do so within one month.
• Orders and payment details: seven years, because Dutch tax law requires this.
• Temporary passwords: at most 24 hours. Password reset links: 60 minutes.
• Sessions: until you sign out, at most 30 days.
• Contact form messages: delivered to our mailbox; the copy in our system is deleted 30 days after sending. We keep the email only as long as we need it to help you.
• Security data and server logs: for a short period, only as long as needed to detect abuse.

You have the right to see your data, have it corrected or deleted, limit or object to its use, and receive it in a common format. Email info@softniverse.com with your request; we respond within one month.

We must keep order data for seven years, even when you delete your account. We then keep only what the law requires.

Do you think we handle your data incorrectly? Please tell us first. You also have the right to file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

We protect your data with HTTPS, passwords stored only as a strong one-way hash, encrypted temporary secrets, sign-in sessions that can be ended, and limits on login attempts. Only people who need it for their work can access the systems.

EduVerse is meant for people aged 16 and over. Are you younger? Then ask a parent or guardian before you buy something.

We update this statement when our processing changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
