C#, explained
Written by EduVerseWhat it is
C# is a statically typed, object-oriented language created by Microsoft. It runs on .NET, which compiles your code to an intermediate form and runs it with a garbage collector, a bit like Java on the JVM. Today .NET runs on Windows, Linux and macOS.
Why teams use it
C# and Java solve similar problems, and the choice often comes down to ecosystem: companies already using Microsoft tools and Azure tend to pick C# with ASP.NET Core for their backends. Unity uses C# for game scripts too, so the same language takes you from business software to games.
An example from work
Your new team’s backend is an ASP.NET Core solution. You open the .sln file in Visual Studio, find a Controllers folder full of .cs files, and start the API locally with dotnet run from the project folder before fixing your first bug.
