DBeaver, explained
Written by EduVerseWhat it is
DBeaver is a desktop database client with a free, open-source Community Edition. It connects to almost any SQL database (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, SQLite and many more) and gives you a SQL editor, a table browser, a data editor and diagrams that show how tables relate.
Why teams use it
Most databases come with their own tool, like pgAdmin or SQL Server Management Studio. If your project uses three databases, DBeaver lets you use one familiar tool for all of them. As a junior, it also lets you look around in the data without knowing every psql or sqlplus command by heart.
An example from work
You add a connection to the local PostgreSQL database from your docker-compose.yml, and DBeaver first offers to download the missing driver. Then you expand the schema, open the orders table and run a query with Ctrl+Enter to see if your migration added the new column.
